Anthony Williams

Coach Williams is a San Diego Native growing up in Central San Diego playing baseball at Encanto and Sunshine Little League.

At 12 years old Coach Williams got selected to represent USA in Brazil for the Boys World Baseball Classic.

Coach Williams went to Mission Bay High School and Won 2 CIF Championships and was Drafted by the Washington Nationals in ‘05. Coach Williams was coached by famed coach Dennis A. Pugh and got private lessons from mentors like Tom House, Tony Gwynn, Reggie & Gerric Waller, Tommy Hinzo, John Edman, and many others.

Coach Williams then attended Yavapai Community College and was coached by hitting guru Sky Smeltzer. Yavapai made it to the Juco World Series that Coach Williams first year and lost in the championship game. Yavapai finished the regular season with single digit losses that year going 56-9. Yavapai was ranked #1 juco in the nation the next year. Some of Coach Williams teammates consist of Kirby Yates (MLB Pitcher) and Kole Calhoun (MLB Outfielder).After Yavapai Coach Williams attended Alcorn State University(Jabhari Blash) and Jarvis Christian College before returning home due to a near death experience.

Coach Williams started his Professional Baseball career playing for the Military All-Stars. Then got signed by Gary Templeton Jr. son of Padre Hall of Famer Gary Templeton Sr.  to play professional in Hawaii and Japan. Coach Williams did 5 years of professional baseball traveling to countries such as Mexico, Japan, and Canada before starting his coaching career.

Coach Williams always gave back throughout his playing career helping with camps, clinics, and giving private lessons but in 2012 Coach Williams created his first ever Roughriders club (16u), 9 of those 12 players went on to play Collegiate baseball while 3 went D1. In 2015 Coach Williams had a 12u team which saw 3 of its players make it to the Little League World Series playing for Sweetwater Valley Little League. In 2017 Coach Williams started the San Diego Roughriders collegiate team which was apart of the Pacific Shores Collegiate League here in San Diego (2021).

In 2017 Coach Williams was offered the Head Varsity Baseball Coaching job at High Tech High Chula Vista at the beginning of the 2017 high school season Coach Williams lead the Bruins to a CIF semi- finals run, the furthers the baseball program has been in school history. The bruins saw their first ever Student Athlete D1 in baseball Kai Staterstrom to SDSU. Kai eventually went on to play at San Jose State.

Coach Williams was asked to represent the Frontier Conference (26 high schools) and be apart of the CIF San Diego Baseball Advisory Board. After 2 short years at HTHCV Coach Williams accepted the Head Varsity baseball coaching job at Lincoln High School in 2019. Unfortunately due to Covid the first couple of years there wasn’t much of sports in California but in 2022 Coach Williams lead the Lincoln Hornets Varsity Baseball Team to its first ever League Championship in the San Diego City Central League, Coach Williams was also named Central League Coach of the year. Coach Williams also lead the Lincoln Hornets to their First ever CIF finals (D5) appearance for baseball in school history.

Coach Williams also volunteers his time coaching at Parkview LL where both of his sons play Zaquriah (8) and Izaiah (5). Coach Williams was selected as the TOC coach for the 7u and won the 2023 District 42 TOC championship.
